Glendalough Double Barrel is a single grain Irish whiskey that undergoes a unique aging process in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. The result is a sweet and creamy flavor profile, with notes of butterscotch and honey from the American oak, and dried fruit from the Spanish oak. The independent distillery, Glendalough, was founded by a group of five friends who have played a significant role in the craft revival in Ireland. After making a name for themselves with their poitín styles, this double-barrel whiskey represents a new direction for the distillery. It is crafted from a mash bill of malted barley and corn that is distilled in Coffey stills. The whiskey is first aged for three years in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in 500-liter oloroso sherry casks. Please note that the packaging for this product was updated in 2018.
