The Old Forester Single Barrel barrel strength bourbon is considered an upgraded version of the Old Forester 90 Proof single barrel, which was discontinued in 2019. The change has been warmly received, as this non-age-stated selection is finished to varying barrel strengths, ranging from 130 to 135-proof. It is composed of a mash bill consisting of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley, and is an ongoing release from the Brown-Forman Shively Distillery. The nose is greeted by softly-hued aromatics of cherries, medicinal syrup, crisp granny smith apples, and torched sugar. On the palate, one can taste bold notes of toasted pecans layered in thick planks of oak, black cherries, and strips of vintage leather.
