This distinctive and innovative spirit, known as Baller, is master distiller Lance Winters' Californian take on the Japanese interpretation of Scotch whisky. With a focus on creating a whiskey that would pair perfectly with Japanese-style highballs, Baller is crafted using 100% American barley, mainly two-row pale malted barley with a touch of lightly roasted barley. After distillation in their eau de vie pot stills, the whiskey is matured in used bourbon casks, French oak wine casks, and filtered through maple charcoal. To add a unique twist, the whiskey is finished in casks that previously held house-made umeshu, a Japanese-style plum liqueur made exclusively from California-grown ume fruit.
