This unique whiskey is crafted by incorporating portions of previously distilled whiskey mash, also known as setback, into the next batch and blending it to create a distinct and exceptional flavor experience.

In the 2022 edition of Shenk's Homestead Distillery Sour Mash Whiskey, they have utilized a portion of distillate aged in special toasted French oak barrels made from 24-month air-dried wood imported from the Vosges region of France, demonstrating their commitment to exploration and experimentation.
