Shenk’s Homestead Distillery Sour Mash Whiskey pays homage to the iconic American whiskey pioneer, John Shenk, who established a distillery back in 1753 that eventually evolved into the well-known Michter’s in the 20th century. This whiskey is produced in Kentucky using the traditional Sour Mash method, where a portion of the previous batch's mash is added into the next. Shenk’s Homestead Distillery Sour Mash Whiskey is a small-batch, full-bodied whiskey with a high rye content and a proof of 91.2. In contrast to the 2018 release, the 2019 vintage is matured exclusively in American oak barrels, some of which are made of the unique Chinquapin oak species (Quercus muehlenbergii).
